Islamabad to Host Girls Sports Carnival, Aiming to Boost Female Participation in Athletics

Islamabad: In a significant move to enhance female participation in sports, the Federal Ministry of Education is set to host a three-day Girls Sports Carnival at the Pakistan Sports Complex from October 18 to October 20, 2024. This event marks a major initiative to empower young female athletes and promote physical education across Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, the carnival is a collaborative effort between the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Board of Education, and the Federal Directorate of Education Islamabad. Approximately 4,000 girl athletes from across Pakistan, including regions such as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, are expected to participate, making it a landmark event in terms of scale and diversity.

The participants will compete in various sports, including track and field, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and tennis. The initiative not only aims to promote physical fitness among girls but also to create a supportive environment where they can develop their skills and competitive spirit.

Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz and the Federal Secretary for Education and Vocational Training, Islamabad, have recently reviewed the preparations for the carnival, ensuring that the event will offer a robust platform for young athletes to showcase their talents. The opening ceremony is scheduled for October 18, setting the stage for what promises to be a vibrant and empowering showcase of female athletic talent.
