Islamabad, A symposium on pharmacovigilance standards aimed at enhancing patient safety was recently held in Islamabad, a collaboration between Pakistan’s Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP), the Pakistan Pharmacist Association (PPA), and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH).
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event titled “Ensuring Patient Safety through Pharmacovigilance” culminated in the inauguration of the ANTH Pharmacovigilance Center. This new facility is linked to DRAP’s National Pharmacovigilance Centre, signifying a major step forward in the nation’s drug monitoring efforts.
Dignitaries at the event, including DRAP CEO Asim Rauf and PPA President Sardar Shabbir, highlighted the critical role of this collaboration in improving the safety and efficacy of medical treatments in Pakistan. ANTH CEO Yasir Khan Niazi emphasized the urgent need to improve adverse drug reaction reporting rates and to integrate pharmacovigilance principles into medical education to broaden its impact on healthcare.
