Islamabad: A group of student volunteers from various universities has successfully completed the Friends of Police program, an initiative by the Islamabad Police aimed at enhancing public awareness about traffic laws and road safety. The program, which involved students from the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Science and Technology, IQRA University, and Capital University of Science and Technology, concluded with a ceremony at the Traffic Police Headquarters in Faizabad.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the Friends of Police program was launched under the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to foster a better understanding of traffic regulations among citizens. The program featured a blend of educational activities and practical training, culminating in a formal event attended by the Chief Traffic Officer, Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, alongside students and members of the police education team.
During the ceremony, CTO Muhammad Sarfraz Virk praised the volunteers for their dedication and emphasized the importance of the police’s role in community engagement. He spoke about the necessity of direct interaction with the public to improve perceptions of the police force and outlined the ongoing efforts to align police services with contemporary needs.
The event also served as a platform to highlight the ongoing commitment of the Islamabad Police to community service, underscored by their acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by their members. The CTO expressed his hope for continued collaboration between the police and the community, particularly through educational initiatives and volunteer involvement in crime prevention.
As the ceremony concluded, CTO Virk announced plans for future iterations of the Friends of Police program, inviting more individuals to participate and contribute to public safety efforts.
