Islamabad: Speakers at a seminar in Islamabad emphasized the significant role of academia in advancing the Kashmir cause through research and intellectual discourse. They urged the international community to take active steps towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the seminar, titled ‘Kashmir Solidarity Program: Global Silence and Pakistan’s Responsibility,’ was organized by the Dawah Centre for Women, International Islamic University Islamabad. The event attracted a diverse audience, including students, faculty members, and researchers, who engaged in discussions on the urgent need for global intervention in the Kashmir crisis.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, President of IIUI, addressed the seminar, highlighting the importance of academic initiatives in raising awareness about the Kashmir issue. Other key speakers included Dr. Faryal Umbreen, Focal Person IIUI, and Hurriyat leaders Shameen Shawl and Zahid Safi.
The seminar also featured contributions from Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain of the Board of Directors RCSS, Colombo, and Prof. Dr. Amna Mahmood. Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and Mohydin Ahmed Wani, Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, also addressed the gathering.
Prof. Dr. Muhtar Ahmed, Chairman of HEC and Rector IIUI, concluded the event by emphasizing the need for persistent academic efforts to promote understanding and seek peaceful resolutions to the Kashmir conflict.
