Islamabad Protesters Denounce DFP Ban in IIOJK by Indian Government

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:A protest in Islamabad, organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell, raised voices against the ban imposed by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government on the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The information, sourced from a Kashmir Media Service (KMS) press release, indicates that the DFP, chaired by the detained Shabbir Ahmed Shah, was banned by the Indian government earlier this month, labeling it an unlawful organization.

Speakers at the protest, which took place outside the Indian High Commission, sternly condemned the DFP ban and emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally-recognized disputed territory, with the Kashmiris engaged in a struggle for their UN-acknowledged right to self-determination. They criticized the ban as wholly unjustified and illegal, given the DFP’s peaceful opposition to the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. The speakers called upon the international community to recognize and act upon the atrocities being perpetrated in regions such as Kashmir and Palestine, asserting that the Kashmiri populace will persist in vocalizing their opposition to India’s illegal occupation of their homeland.
