Islamabad Preps for Prime Minister’s China Visit and CPEC Phase 2 Progress


Islamabad, In a significant meeting today, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal chaired a review session focused on the preparations for the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to China and the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2. The session was marked by discussions on enhancing cooperation with China, particularly in technology transfer and business-to-business collaborations.



According to Press Information Department, during the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal assessed the developments in CPEC Phase 2 based on his recent visit to China and received updates on the agenda for the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee meeting. The Minister stressed the importance of all ministries and departments in advancing the completion of ongoing and newly proposed projects under CPEC.



He highlighted major projects like ML-1 as milestones for Pakistan’s communications and trade sectors and emphasized the strategic shift from government-to-government to business-to-business cooperation in Phase 2 of CPEC. Ahsan Iqbal also underlined the role of technology transfer in bolstering Pakistan’s capacities and expressed optimism about the new era of cooperation that the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to herald.
