ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have intensified their ongoing crackdown against drug dealers, arresting 1,043 individuals involved in drug trafficking since the beginning of the year. A significant quantity of narcotics and liquor has also been recovered from their possession.
The campaign is being conducted following the special direction of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of the Nasha Ab Nahi campaign to eradicate drug networks in the federal capital.
Police teams have recovered 399 kilograms of heroin, 178 kilograms of hashish, over 52 kilograms of ice, more than six kilograms of opium, 50 grams of cocaine, 160 intoxicating pills, and 7,246 bottles of liquor during various operations carried out across the city. These efforts have focused on dismantling drug trafficking networks, particularly aiming at those supplying drugs to the youth.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, stated that efforts will continue to eliminate this menace and ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
He also mentioned that Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to protect lives and property and urged the public to report any suspicious activity or objects to the nearest police station or by calling Pucar-15.
