Islamabad Police Tighten Security for Muharram Processions

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police are implementing comprehensive security measures for Muharram processions and majalis, as senior officers conducted inspections across the federal capital to ensure smooth operations.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, along with SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, visited several routes and Imambargahs to evaluate the security arrangements in place. The officers assessed the deployment of personnel and instructed those on duty to maintain a high state of vigilance.

The senior officials emphasized that all procession routes should be completely secured, with proper lighting and strict enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Muharram gatherings. DIG Islamabad assured that the police force is committed to providing comprehensive security during the sacred month.

The directive includes a focus on inter-sect harmony and religious tolerance, with clear instructions for police officers to adhere to the SOPs rigorously. Zonal SDPOs and SHOs have been tasked with field presence and close coordination to ensure peace and security.

DIG Islamabad highlighted that the police are committed to maintaining the capital’s peaceful environment, fostering religious harmony in line with the vision of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The aim is to ensure uninterrupted security for both processions and majalis throughout the period.
