Islamabad Police Records 33% Crime Rate Reduction in 2025

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad experienced a notable 33% decline in crime rates in 2025, attributed to strategic reforms introduced by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The measures have led to significant achievements in apprehending criminals and recovering stolen property, enhancing public safety and police-community relations.

Upon taking office, IGP Rizvi implemented reforms aimed at eradicating criminal activities in the federal capital. These efforts resulted in the tracing of 5,083 criminal cases and the arrest of 8,784 suspects. Stolen goods valued at Rs. 814.4 million were recovered from those arrested.

Under IGP Rizvi’s leadership, a targeted crackdown on criminal networks led to the arrest of 649 individuals from 290 gangs involved in vehicle theft. The police successfully recovered 152 vehicles and 320 motorcycles during these operations.

In addition to crime reduction, the Islamabad Police has focused on public facilitation through Police Khidmat Markaz centers, which served over 76,000 citizens, including foreigners and overseas Pakistanis, in 2025. Furthermore, a record 920 police officers received promotions, reflecting the department’s commitment to internal development.

To enhance public service delivery, open courts were conducted by the Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad. Of the 1,086 complaints lodged by citizens, 973 were resolved transparently and promptly, demonstrating the police’s dedication to accountability and responsiveness.

IGP Rizvi emphasized the importance of law and order for national stability, attributing the crime reduction to a comprehensive strategy by Islamabad Police. He called for ongoing collaboration between citizens and law enforcement through community policing to sustain safety improvements.

The IGP reaffirmed the Islamabad Police’s commitment to fostering public trust and building a secure environment through collective efforts.
