Islamabad, The Islamabad Capital Koral Police have successfully raided a distillery in Ghouri Town, resulting in the confiscation of a substantial amount of liquor.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the raid was part of an intensified crackdown against criminal elements in the city, following directives from the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. The operation aimed to eliminate crime and ensure the safety and property of citizens.
During the raid, the police teams recovered 110 bottles and 300 liters of liquor, along with empty bottles. A liquor dealer identified as Sajjad Sano Masih was apprehended at the scene. Police are currently making efforts to arrest his associates.
A case has been registered against those operating the distillery, and further investigations are in progress. ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan reiterated his directive to the police officials, emphasizing that providing relief to the citizens is a primary responsibility of the police and that all possible efforts will be made to ensure it.
Karachi, In a significant crackdown on the illicit tobacco trade, teams from the Inland Revenue Service of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have carried out a nationwide operation on January 13, 2024, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of non-duty paid and counterfeit cigarettes.
According to Federal Board of Revenue, the operation led to the confiscation of 1,377 Packerites, equivalent to 13.77 million cigarette sticks, including both local and foreign brands. The operation was supervised by the Member Inland Revenue Operations, Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, who emphasized the government’s commitment to combating tax evasion and ensuring compliance with revenue laws.
The FBR has resolved to handle any form of revenue evasion with strict measures, and individuals involved in such activities will face direct penal proceedings. This operation represents a significant effort by Pakistani authorities to curb illegal tobacco trade and protect government revenues.
