Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi praised the Islamabad Police for maintaining law and order during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2024, held in the federal capital. The announcement came during a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) in Islamabad, which was attended by senior police officials, including DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza, DIG Headquarters Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer, and DIG Law and Order Shakir Hussain Dawar.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, IGP Rizvi commended the force for its comprehensive security arrangements during the high-profile summit. He announced awards and a gratuity equivalent to one month’s salary to recognize the efforts of the officers. The IGP highlighted that the police had demonstrated bravery and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of citizens.
IGP Rizvi noted that extensive security measures were implemented for the residences, venues, and routes used by foreign delegations during the summit. Citizens were kept informed about alternative routes to manage traffic efficiently, ensuring smooth travel throughout the event. He emphasized that the Islamabad Police utilized all available resources to protect the dignity and identity of the country during the summit.
The IGP urged the officers to continue serving the public with the same level of dedication and professionalism in the future.
As per Islamabad Capital Police, the force’s exemplary performance during the SCO Summit further strengthened Pakistan’s image on the global stage.
