Islamabad Police Intensify Crackdown on Tinted Glass and Improper Number Plates

Islamabad, In a major operation to enforce traffic regulations, the Islamabad Capital Police, under the directives of Capital Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, has ramped up its crackdown on vehicles with tinted glasses and those sporting improper or fancy number plates within the federal capital. This initiative aims to bolster public safety and ensure adherence to the city’s vehicular laws.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the intensified efforts have resulted in action against 5,554 vehicles and motorcycles bearing improper or fancy number plates, with 199 of these vehicles impounded across various police stations. Additionally, the operation has targeted 1,884 vehicles with tinted glasses, leading to 77 vehicles being impounded. The Safe City Islamabad project has also issued fines to over 1,900 vehicles violating the prescribed regulations.

Senior police officials have reiterated that the use of tinted glasses on vehicles is strictly prohibited in Islamabad, highlighting that no department possesses the authority to grant exemptions for such modifications. Citizens have been advised to proactively remove tinted films from their windows to avoid legal repercussions.

The crackdown also includes the establishment of special pickets in key areas of the city to monitor compliance. The police have called for public cooperation during these checks and warned that inappropriate behavior towards law enforcement personnel could result in legal consequences. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities through the “Pucar-15” hotline or the “ICT-15” app.

Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan’s message further urged citizens to exhibit patience at traffic signals, cooperate with police officers during routine checks, and contribute to the discouragement of social ills such as professional begging by directing charity towards genuine needs. He emphasized that the collective efforts of the public and the police are crucial for maintaining order and safety on the roads.

Concluding his message, Dr. Khan expressed optimism that the residents of Islamabad would continue their support for the police’s initiatives, playing a vital role in fostering a safer and more disciplined urban environment.
