Islamabad Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Parking Under Direct Orders from IGP

Islamabad: Islamabad Police has escalated efforts to enforce traffic laws by targeting individuals who improperly park their vehicles, obstructing the smooth flow of traffic and encroaching on footpath areas. The campaign, orchestrated under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and monitored by SSP Traffic Islamabad Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, aims to enhance traffic discipline and ensure the convenience of road users.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the initiative follows direct orders from IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. SSP Traffic Muhammad Sarfraz Virk oversees the operation which involves all Zonal DSPs who are tasked with ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and addressing violations that disrupt traffic management.

The focus of the crackdown has been on key commercial areas including showrooms and shopping malls in multiple sectors such as G-11 Markaz, F-10, F-11, G-8, G-9, and I-8 Markaz, as well as prominent markets like Blue Area, Jinnah Super Market, F-6 Super Market, Aabpara, and Bhara Kahu. Enforcement actions have included the removal of vehicles from footpaths and issuing warnings to administrators, emphasizing that non-compliance will lead to stringent penalties.

Over the course of the year, the campaign has resulted in the issuance of over 68,000 fine tickets for wrongful parking and numerous vehicles have been impounded for failing to clear footpath areas. SSP Muhammad Sarfraz Virk reiterated the police’s commitment to maintaining order and convenience for all road users by rigorously enforcing traffic laws.

To bolster these efforts, special squads have been formed specifically to tackle illegal parking and clear footpaths. These squads are dedicated to the indiscriminate enforcement of the law against all violators, thereby supporting the broader objectives of the campaign.
