ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have implemented an extensive security and patrolling plan to ensure public safety during the Eid-ul-Azha festivities, deploying over 3,500 officers across the federal capital, according to a press release.
The security initiative follows directives from the Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Javad Tariq, indicated that officers will be stationed at mosques, imambargahs, shopping centers, graveyards, bus terminals, railway stations, and cattle markets to maintain order and assist citizens.
Special deployments have been arranged at major shopping centers, with Dolphin Force officials conducting patrols to avert any incidents. A shift-based security strategy has been introduced at bus terminals, where Station House Officers have coordinated with terminal managers to organize volunteer assistance for the public.
Police presence will also be heightened at graveyards and the railway station, with a dedicated force assigned to manage crowds at Faisal Mosque during Eid prayers. The Islamabad Traffic Police have devised a traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular flow and parking arrangements citywide.
A special patrolling plan will be in effect during the Eid holidays, deploying Falcon and CRT vehicles in designated sectors. Additional patrol vehicles have been provided to local stations to boost vigilance, and special measures have been taken at recreational areas, prohibiting parking near places of worship.
Security checks will be stringent at all city entry and exit points, with the Bomb Disposal Squad conducting area inspections to mitigate threats. Police teams will patrol both urban and rural areas, supported by commando units for enhanced security.
DIG Islamabad advised citizens to secure their homes before heading out for Eid prayers or celebrations and to maintain communication with local police. “Police officers are working round the clock to safeguard your life, property, and peace of mind,” he stated.
