Islamabad Police Detain 18, Seize Drugs and Weapons in Citywide Crackdown

Islamabad: In a significant operation, Islamabad Police arrested 18 individuals suspected of various criminal activities and confiscated a substantial quantity of drugs and weapons, intensifying their efforts to curb crime in the capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests and seizures were made following the specific directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who has ordered a heightened crackdown on criminal elements to cleanse the city of unlawful activities. The police action led to the recovery of drugs, including hashish and heroin, and several firearms. In one notable incident, the Sangjani police team apprehended Umar Ashraf, from whom they confiscated a 30 bore pistol. Other teams, such as the Tarnol and Industrial Area police, made similar arrests, seizing over 1440 grams of hashish and 560 grams of heroin.

The crackdown also targeted proclaimed offenders and absconders, with police arresting seven such individuals across the city. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad, Syed Ali Raza, has instructed police officials to further intensify their efforts, emphasizing that the safety and security of the citizens are paramount and no laxity will be tolerated.

The community is encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity or information through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” app for immediate assistance.
