Islamabad: In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Islamabad Police have arrested 14 individuals from various parts of the city over the past 24 hours, confiscating a haul of drugs and weapons in the process. The operation, directed by the Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, targeted multiple locations and led to the recovery of narcotics and illegal firearms.
According to Islamabad Capital Police announcement issued on 22 September 2024, the arrests and seizures are part of an intensified campaign to purge the city of criminal elements. The police action follows specific orders from IGP Rizvi to ramp up efforts against crime. The Karachi Company police station notably apprehended an individual named Rustam, finding him in possession of a 30 bore pistol. Other teams, including those from Khanna, Koral, Kirpa, Humak, Lohi Bher, and Bhara Kahu, also reported arrests and seizures, including substantial quantities of heroin, hashish, ice, and illegal weapons like swords and pistols.
The operation also extended to pursuing proclaimed offenders and absconders, with four such individuals apprehended during the crackdown. Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Raza has instructed officers to escalate their efforts in combating criminal activities, emphasizing that the safety and security of Islamabad’s citizens are paramount.
The police have encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” app, promising prompt response and assistance. The ongoing investigations aim to further dismantle the networks involved in these illegal activities.
