Islamabad Police Crack Down on Reckless Motorcyclists; Over 9,000 Fined and 1,120 Bikes Impounded

Islamabad: In a significant move to curb reckless driving and ensure road safety, the Islamabad Police, following orders from Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, have imposed stringent measures against traffic violators, resulting in thousands of fines and hundreds of impounded motorcycles on Independence Day.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the city’s traffic police initiated a focused crackdown on dangerous driving behaviors such as one-wheeling, riding heavy bikes without silencers, and creating disruptions in traffic flow. The operation led to 9,406 motorcyclists being fined and 1,120 motorcycles being impounded across various police stations for involvement in hazardous activities.

Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk has deployed special squads along major roads and highways to ensure the enforcement of traffic laws. The traffic police have issued a stern warning to citizens against engaging in perilous activities like one-wheeling and have called on parents to prevent their children from such behaviors, emphasizing that offenders will face severe penalties and risk having their vehicles seized.

The overall goal of this intensive operation is to restore discipline to Islamabad’s traffic system and enhance safety for all road users. The Chief Traffic Officer is appealing to the public to cooperate with law enforcement and adhere to safe driving practices.
