ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police have intensified their efforts to combat overloading and overcharging by public service and passenger vehicles during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
Under the directive of Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider, special squads have been mandated to monitor bus and wagon stands in the capital. These squads are tasked with identifying and addressing incidents where drivers either overload their vehicles or charge passengers excessive fares, as well as instances of misconduct with passengers.
The initiative includes the establishment of checkpoints on key roads to facilitate the inspection and regulation of passenger vehicles. Zonal Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) have been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure compliance with the new measures.
Vehicles found guilty of overloading will face substantial fines. In addition, any extra charges collected from passengers will be reimbursed to them to discourage overcharging practices.
Captain Haider emphasized the commitment to maintaining smooth traffic flow in Islamabad and urged passengers to report any grievances by contacting the helpline “Pucar 15.” He reiterated that the convenience and safety of citizens remain a top priority for the police department.
