Islamabad Police Bolsters Security for Muharram with Specialized Teams


ISLAMABAD: In a bid to enhance security measures during Muharram-ul-Haram, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced the formation of specialized monitoring and vigilance teams. These teams aim to ensure the safety of processions and gatherings in the federal capital. An official notification has been issued regarding this development.



Islamabad has been strategically divided into five divisions to streamline security operations. DG Safe City Shakir Hussain Dawar and AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umarani will supervise security in the Rural Division. In the I-9 area, security oversight will be managed by DIG Law and Order Muhammad Atiq Tahir and AIG Operations Arsalan Shahzeb.



DIG Security Syed Ali Raza and SSP CTD Hamza Humayun are tasked with overseeing the City Division. The Saddar Division will be monitored by SSP Safe City Muhammad Iqbal and DSP ARF Ghulam Mustafa. AIG Establishment/Investigations Syed Enayat Ali Shah and SSP Shams-ul-Haq Durrani will handle the security in the Sohan Division.



IGP Islamabad emphasized the police’s commitment to providing comprehensive security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. He assured that the force would facilitate citizens by ensuring their safety, managing parking, and maintaining traffic flow.



He urged the public to cooperate with police personnel and report any suspicious activities or individuals through the “Call 15” helpline. The overarching goal of the Islamabad Police, he stated, is to ensure the complete protection of its citizens.
