Islamabad Police Bolster Security for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2024

Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is personally overseeing the security operations for the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2024,” ensuring stringent measures are in place throughout the federal capital. The comprehensive review includes multiple critical locations such as Safe City Islamabad, the Control Room at the SSP Security Office, and the high-security Red Zone area.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, IGP Rizvi, along with DIG Security Jawad Tariq and other senior officials, inspected the deployed security protocols at the residences and venues hosting international delegates and heads of state. The summit has necessitated the mobilization of over 9,000 police personnel, supplemented by forces from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, FC, and various police and intelligence agencies from across the provinces.

The efforts underscore a significant escalation in surveillance and security measures, with Rizvi issuing directives to further enhance the scrutiny of venues, residential areas, and routes frequented by the foreign delegations. The Islamabad Police have also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the heightened security operations.

The IGP reassured that all available resources are being utilized to maintain a secure environment for the summit, aiming to reflect Pakistan’s commitment to safety and hospitality on the international stage.
