Islamabad Police Arrest 27, Seize Drugs and Weapons in Citywide Crackdown

Islamabad: In a robust operation across the city, the Islamabad Police have arrested 27 individuals in the last 24 hours, confiscating a significant cache of drugs and weapons. This crackdown aligns with intensified efforts to purge the city of criminal activities.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operations were conducted under the guidance of Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, targeting various areas within Islamabad. Teams from different police stations made significant arrests and recoveries, including over 2 kilograms of hashish and heroin, as well as multiple firearms with ammunition.

In detailed operations, Bani Gala police arrested two suspects, recovering hashish and a pistol. Phulgran and Lohi Bher police made similar drug recoveries, while Sihala police seized an SMG gun. The Tarnol team’s efforts led to the capture of two more individuals with hashish and a pistol. Additionally, the Sumbal police arrested five individuals involved in the illegal sale of petrol.

The crackdown also targeted proclaimed offenders and absconders, resulting in 15 more arrests across the city. DIG Islamabad, Syed Ali Raza, has directed police officials to escalate actions against criminal elements to ensure the security of the citizens, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards any laxity in maintaining law and order.

Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities using the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” app for immediate police assistance.
