Islamabad: In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, Islamabad police have arrested 19 individuals and confiscated a substantial cache of drugs and weapons. This operation comes as part of a city-wide effort to curb crime, initiated under the direct orders of Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests and seizures occurred across various districts of Islamabad within the last 24 hours. Specific operations led by different police teams resulted in the recovery of multiple firearms and significant quantities of narcotics. For instance, Tarnol police arrested Roshan Deen with 2230 grams of hashish, while Sabzi Mandi police detained Muhammad Kamran, who was found in possession of a 30 bore pistol.
The crackdown also extended to other teams: Khanna police apprehended Abdullah, Jamshed, and Haider Ali, recovering two pistols; Koral police took Muhammad Ramzan into custody with a similar weapon; Sihala police arrested Khalid Gul with 515 grams of heroin; Bhara Kahu police apprehended Yasir Shah; and Shahzad Town police secured the arrest of Atif Mehmood, each found with illegal firearms.
In addition to these specific arrests, Islamabad police have also rounded up 11 absconders and target offenders, further intensifying their efforts to dismantle local criminal networks. DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza has issued orders to continue the rigorous enforcement measures, emphasizing that the safety and security of citizens are paramount, with strict policies against any lapses in duty.
The police have encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” app to aid in these ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
