Islamabad, In a substantial crackdown, the Islamabad Capital Police arrested 12 individuals, including two professional beggars, in various areas of the city over the past 24 hours. The operation also led to the recovery of drugs and weapons.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were part of an intensified effort to eliminate criminal activity in the city, as directed by Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. The Aabpara police team apprehended an individual named Fida Hussain, recovering 1950 grams of heroin. Additionally, the Karachi Company police team arrested Waqas Masih and Hamza, seizing 220 grams of heroin and six bottles of wine.
The Noon police team arrested five individuals – Ahmed Umer, Waheed Shah, Zabi Ullah, Muhammad Dastan, and Shoukat Khan – for illegally refilling gas cylinders. Similarly, the Khanna Police team arrested Rizwan with a 30 bore pistol, and the Humak Police team detained Usama Zahid, also recovering a 30 bore pistol.
Cases have been registered against all the arrested individuals, and further investigations are ongoing. The operation also focused on combating the issue of professional begging in the city. Two professional beggars were arrested, and cases against them were registered under the beggar act.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has directed police officials to further intensify the crackdown against criminal elements, emphasizing that the safety and security of citizens are the foremost priorities. He stated that no laxity would be tolerated in ensuring public safety.
This operation is part of Islamabad Capital Police’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of the city’s residents.
