Islamabad Police Apprehend 372 Suspects and Recover Valuables Worth Over Rs 11 Million

Islamabad: In a significant crackdown led by the Islamabad Capital Police, 372 individuals suspected of various criminal activities were arrested, and stolen goods valued at approximately Rs 11.25 million were recovered, as part of a city-wide operation to combat crime.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made following specific directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad, Syed Ali Raza, assigned special tasks to zonal Senior Police Officers (SPs) and their teams, focusing on capturing those involved in severe criminal offenses and retrieving stolen items. Over the past six months, four criminal gangs were among those detained by the teams from Noon police station.

The police also seized substantial amounts of illegal substances and weapons, including 17,722 grams of hashish, 1,140 grams of opium, 230 grams of methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice), and 306 liters of liquor. Furthermore, the officers confiscated 59 pistols, two Kalashnikov rifles, eight other rifles, and four daggers, along with necessary ammunition.

DIG Raza highlighted the completion of investigations in 300 cases with the submission of their legal charges to the relevant courts. Additionally, the police operation led to the arrest of 115 absconders and target offenders, as well as 36 individuals identified as professional beggars.

Emphasizing the commitment of the Islamabad Police to purge the city of drug-related crimes and other criminal elements, DIG Raza assured that efforts would continue to bring those involved in the trafficking of drugs and alcohol to justice. He also urged the public to play a role by reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to the police via the emergency helpline “Pukar” 15, or the “ICT 15” mobile app.
