Islamabad Minister Demands Swift Progress on Gwadar Power Plant Construction


Islamabad, In a decisive push to advance the development of the Gwadar Power Plant, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has ordered the acceleration of the project’s construction. The directive was issued during a meeting in Islamabad, where the Minister presided to assess the progress on the power plant, emphasizing the critical need for a reliable electricity supply in Gwadar.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal emphasized the strategic importance of the power plant, stating unequivocally that delays would not be tolerated. The minister linked the provision of electricity directly to the development of Gwadar as a significant maritime trade hub and a catalyst for industrial growth in Balochistan.



The 300-megawatt Gwadar coal power project, which is prominently listed among the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) priority projects, is considered essential for enhancing the energy infrastructure and economic development of the region. The project’s completion is eagerly anticipated as a key step toward realizing the potential of Gwadar Port City, along with other significant infrastructure projects like the New Gwadar International Airport and the East Bay Expressway.
