Islamabad, In a significant move to support transparent election reporting, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, inaugurated a Media Facilitation Center at the Press Information Department on Wednesday. The center aims to assist journalists covering the general elections, ensuring they receive comprehensive support on polling day.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi committed to providing every possible assistance to media professionals during the elections. He highlighted the caretaker government’s efforts in fulfilling its responsibilities towards the conduct of the elections, amidst challenges including security concerns. Solangi emphasized Pakistan’s long battle against terrorism, praising the unwavering resolve of security forces, civil servants, and the nation.

Information Secretary Shahehra Shahid encouraged media personnel to utilize the facilitation centers established across various cities for any assistance needed. She assured that experienced officers are ready to provide support in every possible manner. Additionally, Principal Information Officer Tariq Mehmood revealed that 4,763 accreditation cards have been issued to journalists for election coverage, underscoring the government’s commitment to facilitate the media’s work.

The establishment of the Media Facilitation Center and the assurances from government officials underscore Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring a transparent electoral process and the free flow of information. This initiative reflects the government’s support for the media’s crucial role in democracy, particularly during the electoral process.
