Islamabad, In a concerted effort to bolster the fight against tuberculosis (TB), Islamabad witnessed the “Sprint to End TB” event, a collaborative initiative marking World TB Day on March 24, 2024. Organized by the Dopasi Foundation in partnership with the Common Management Unit for AIDS, TB, and Malaria of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, and the city’s premier running group “Islamabad Run with Us,” the event aimed to unify the community in raising awareness and advocating for the elimination of TB. The run, which spanned from Chand Tara Chowk to the Gun and Country Club, symbolized the collective journey towards a future free from TB, highlighting the crucial role of community participation in tackling such global health challenges.


According to Press Information Department, the event featured notable participants including Secretary Health Dr. Iftikhar Shalwani and National Coordinator Dr. Razia Fatima, among others, who emphasized the critical need for joint efforts in the TB fight. Secretary Shalwani stressed the significance of raising awareness and mobilizing resources to support vulnerable populations and ultimately achieve the goal of ending TB. This reflection of a societal obligation towards public health was echoed throughout the day, culminating in a closing ceremony and Iftar at the Gun and Country Club. The gathering served not only as a celebration of the day’s achievements but also as a platform to reinforce the ongoing commitment to TB eradication efforts in Pakistan and beyond.



This event underscores the power of collaboration and community engagement in addressing pressing public health issues, reaffirming the collective resolve to work towards eradicating TB in line with global efforts and the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
