Islamabad Implements Traffic Plan for 9th Muharram Procession

Islamabad: In preparation for the 9th Muharram procession, Islamabad’s Chief Traffic Officer, Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, under the direction of Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has announced comprehensive traffic arrangements to ensure smooth flow and safety during the event.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, more than 500 traffic officers will be deployed to manage the procession that will start from Imambargah G-6/2 Asna Ashari and traverse its designated route before concluding. Several major roads, including Fazal Haq Road from Polyclinic to Kulsoom Plaza and segments of 7th Avenue, will be closed to general traffic to accommodate the procession.

Alternative routes such as Jinnah Avenue, Suhrawardy Road, Margalla Road, and Shaheed Millat Road have been designated for public use to minimize inconvenience. The traffic police will also guide commuters at various points where road closures occur, ensuring accessibility through alternate routes.

Chief Traffic Officer Virk has urged the public to follow the specified detours and cooperate with traffic management efforts. Updates on traffic and procession progress will be broadcast via FM Radio 92.4 and other social media channels to keep the public informed throughout the day.
