Islamabad Hosts Rwandan Senate President, Discusses Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Issues

ISLAMABAD, The President of the Senate of Rwanda, Dr. Kalinda François-Xavier, is currently visiting Pakistan, deepening diplomatic relations and exploring avenues for bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Government of Pakistan, Dr. François-Xavier’s visit, at the invitation of Pakistani Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, has included high-level meetings with Pakistani leaders such as President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar. These discussions have emphasized the potential for collaborative initiatives in trade, investment, education, and technology, reflecting both nations’ commitment to strengthening ties.

Additionally, Pakistan’s Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan has been activated to address immigration violations. After a one-month grace period allowing voluntary departures, Pakistan is now systematically repatriating those who overstayed visas or lack proper documents, with exemptions for recognized refugees.

The Foreign Affairs spokesperson also highlighted Pakistan’s concern over the ongoing conflict in Palestine, condemning the loss of civilian lives and urging international intervention to resolve the humanitarian crisis. The Senate of Pakistan has resonated with public sentiment by denouncing Israeli actions in Gaza.

On the regional front, the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was addressed, with reports of human rights violations by Indian forces. Pakistan reiterated its support for the Kashmiri right to self-determination as per United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Concluding the briefing, the spokesperson announced Prime Minister Kakar’s forthcoming visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for the 16th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit. The Prime Minister is expected to discuss Pakistan’s vision for the ECO’s future, focusing on regional connectivity and prosperity.
