Islamabad Health Minister Emphasizes ‘Political Will’ for Healthcare Reforms

Islamabad, Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, has emphasized the need for strong political will to effectively revamp Pakistan’s healthcare system. Speaking in an interview with a private news channel on Friday, Dr. Jan highlighted the achievements of the caretaker government in introducing a health reform agenda within a limited timeframe.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Jan pointed out that comprehensive reforms are necessary across various departments associated with the Health Ministry. This includes vital changes in institutions like the Pakistan Medical Dental Council, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, and the Pakistan Nursing Council.

The Minister’s remarks underscore the urgency of overhauling the healthcare sector to improve services and access for the public. He stressed the importance of sustained political commitment to ensure that the proposed reforms can be effectively implemented and managed.

These statements come at a crucial time when Pakistan faces various challenges in its health sector, including the need for better regulatory frameworks, improved healthcare facilities, and enhanced professional training and standards. Dr. Jan’s call for political will reflects a broader recognition of the need for systemic change to enhance the quality and reach of healthcare services in the country.
