Islamabad Demonstrates on Burhan Wani’s 8th Martyrdom Anniversary

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter marked the 8th martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani with a significant protest in Islamabad today, reasserting their call for Kashmiri self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration, spearheaded by APHC-AJK leader Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, featured a march towards the Indian High Commission. Participants, including Kashmiri leaders and citizens, carried portraits of Burhan Wani and banners demanding freedom, vocally denouncing Indian rule over the contested region.

The protest emphasized the influence of Wani’s death on Kashmiri youth, with speakers crediting him for revitalizing the resistance movement against Indian policies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They denounced India’s harsh methods aimed at quelling the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and called for an international intervention to address ongoing human rights violations in the area.

The rally also voiced a strong demand for the release of detained Kashmiri leaders, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt and others, underscoring the broader call for Kashmir’s right to self-determination. The event paralleled numerous similar demonstrations across Azad Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing a region-wide remembrance and protest against Indian administration in IIOJK.
