Islamabad, The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in collaboration with the National Heritage and Culture Division and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organized a special event in Islamabad to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of renowned poet and prose writer Shaikh Ayaz.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Education Madad Ali Sindhi, in his remarks, highlighted the significant contributions of Shaikh Ayaz in the intellectual awakening of the country’s youth, particularly in Sindh. He emphasized that the basic human rights people enjoy today are partly due to the sacrifices made by Shaikh Ayaz, who was known for his unwavering commitment to his ideals, often leading to his imprisonment.
Shaikh Ayaz is revered as one of the prominent and great Sindhi poets of Pakistan, with a substantial influence in Sindh. He authored more than 50 books, including poetry, biographies, plays, and short stories in both Sindhi and Urdu languages. His translations of “Shah Jo Risalo,” originally written by the 18th-century Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif, from Sindhi to Urdu, solidified his reputation as an authoritative figure in his field.
The commemoration event serves not only as a celebration of Shaikh Ayaz’s centennial birth anniversary but also as a recognition of his enduring impact on Pakistani literature and culture.
