Islamabad Celebrates 97th Anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army at GHQ


Islamabad: The 97th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China was commemorated today at the General Headquarters (GHQ) with prominent military officials from both Pakistan and China in attendance. The event underscored the deep military and strategic ties between the two nations.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, the ceremony was graced by His Excellency Mr. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, who served as the chief guest. Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché, along with other officials from the Chinese Embassy and officers from the tri-services of Pakistan, were also present. General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, extended a warm welcome to the guests, praising the PLA’s significant contributions to China’s defense and national development.



The COAS highlighted the exceptional nature of Pakistan-China relations, emphasizing the consistent mutual support and trust that has characterized their strategic partnership through varying geopolitical climates. He noted the strong military cooperation that exemplifies the “iron clad brotherhood” between the two countries.



The Chinese Ambassador, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and lauded the Pakistani military’s efforts in combating terrorism and stabilizing the region. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to standing with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, asserting the unbreakable bond between the two nations and their armed forces.
