Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:A systematic crackdown orchestrated by the Islamabad Capital Police has resulted in the arrest of 16 individuals involved in various illicit activities, accompanied by the confiscation of a noteworthy quantity of drugs and weapons, according to a statement released by a public relations officer. Over the last 24 hours, multiple teams deployed across different areas of the city have worked diligently to enact the stringent directives of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, who has advocated for an intensified operation against criminal elements to eradicate crime from the city.
In a string of operations, the Aabpara police apprehended Adnan Zahoor, seizing 20 liters of liquor from him, while the Karachi Company police took Adil Masih and Sail Masih into custody, recovering 100 liters of liquor, 30 tin beer, 520 grams of heroin, and 17 grams of Ice. The Tarnol police have arrested Imtiaz Ali and confiscated 650 grams of heroin, with Sangjani police detaining Sheer Ali and Tanveer Ahmed, seizing 520 grams of heroin and 17 grams of Ice. Concurrently, the Shams Colony police arrested Fareed Ullah and recovered a 30 bore pistol and ammunition.
Further, the Noon police apprehended Hassam Ahmed, recovering 107 grams of Ice, while the Khanna police team brought Aqib, Akram, and Ehsan Ayaz into custody, recovering 2160 grams of heroin. The Bhara Kahu police detained Sabir Hussain and Gulzar for illicitly selling petrol and gas refilling. Moreover, Nilore police apprehended Mubashir Iqbal, seizing a 30 bore pistol and ammunition, and another team arrested Ghulam Mustafa for illegal gas refilling. Lastly, the Shahzad Town police arrested Abdul Haq and confiscated a 30 bore pistol with ammunition.
All accused have had cases registered against them, and investigations are currently underway.
In the press release, ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan emphasized that the safety and security of citizens are paramount, asserting that no negligence in this commitment will be tolerated and instructing police officials to escalate the crackdown on criminal elements further.
