Islamabad: Capital Police Intensifies Crackdown on Reckless Driving

Islamabad, In a concerted effort to improve road safety, the Islamabad Capital Police has intensified its crackdown on negligent and reckless drivers, resulting in legal actions against 900 drivers and the impoundment of 40 vehicles and motorcycles in the past week.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, is in response to directives from the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. The police force has been conducting both day and night measures to safeguard the lives and properties of residents, focusing particularly on drivers who display negligence and reckless behaviour.

The recent crackdown is part of the Special Traffic Education and Enforcement Campaign, which has seen substantial enforcement action. Special squads deployed across different zones of the city have been actively ensuring adherence to traffic rules and regulations.

The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Islamabad emphasized the crucial need to prioritize citizen safety and reduce accidents in the capital. This campaign is designed not only to enforce traffic laws strictly but also to cultivate a sense of responsibility and positive behaviour among drivers.

The CTO stated that the ultimate goal is to make Islamabad accident-free, affirming that the safety of every citizen is the police’s top priority. Reckless drivers, who compromise not only their safety but also that of others, will be held accountable under the law.

In addition to punitive measures, the campaign involves educational efforts by the traffic police. Teams have been tasked with raising awareness about traffic laws and road safety among citizens. Officers are expected to provide weekly performance reports and maintain high ethical standards during their shifts.
