Islamabad, In a decisive move to curtail criminal activities, the Islamabad Capital Police detained 30 individuals, encompassing four professional beggars, from diverse regions of the city within the past day. The apprehensions led to the discovery and confiscation of an array of illegal substances such as drugs and an assortment of weapons.
According to a news release by a Islamabad Capital Police, the ongoing crackdown is a response to the explicit directives of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. Dr. Khan has made it clear that purging the city of criminal elements is a top priority, necessitating relentless efforts from the police force.
In specific incidents stemming from these instructions, the Karachi Company police team detained Hamza Waheed, confiscating a 30 bore pistol. Shalimar police took into custody Fayyaz Ahmed, uncovering 1220 grams of hashish, while Golra police held Nadeem Akhtar, discovering 113 grams of heroin. Several other arrests across different police jurisdictions resulted in the recovery of substantial quantities of drugs, as well as weapons, from the accused.
In addition, during this intensified drive against crime, the police clamped down on professional begging. Consequently, four individuals were arrested under the beggar act, highlighting the city’s firm stance against this form of public nuisance.
