ISLAMABAD, A concerted effort by Islamabad Capital Police has resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals, among them four categorized as professional beggars. The crackdown, conducted in different parts of the city over the last 24 hours, also led to the seizure of illicit substances and unauthorized weapons.
According to a news release by the Islamabad Capital Police, the operation followed special instructions from Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, intensifying actions against criminals to eradicate crime from the city.
As part of this initiative, the Margalla police apprehended two professional beggars. In a separate effort, the Sumbal police team arrested a female drug dealer named Soman and confiscated 1100 grams of heroin in her possession.
Further, the Tarnol police detained an individual named Haris Shah for possession of an unauthorized weapon and seized a 12 bore rifle. In Shams Colony, the police arrested Muhammad Chan Zaib and Muhammad Shahzad on charges of drug peddling, seizing 800 grams of hashish. The Kirpa police arrested another two professional beggars. Meanwhile, the Sihala police detained Yasir Mehmood for illegally selling petrol.
The Shahzad Town police unit nabbed three individuals, Afzaal Ahmad, Hassnain, and Saad Mehmood, and recovered 1075 grams of hashish and two liquor bottles.
Legal proceedings have commenced against the arrested individuals, and investigations are ongoing.
Emphasizing the operation’s importance, ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has instructed police officials to enhance their crackdown on criminal activities. He stated, “Safety and security of the citizens is our foremost priority and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.”
