Islamabad Capital Police and Journalists Collaborate for Accurate Reporting

Islamabad, In an effort to bridge the gap between law enforcement and media reporting, the Islamabad Capital Police hosted a session on Policing and Journalism at the Central Police Office in Islamabad, aiming to enhance cooperation and accurate dissemination of information to the public. The event saw the participation of the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, crime reporters from leading media organizations, and senior police officers.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the session provided a platform for journalists to voice concerns and offer recommendations on improving the measures taken by the police for the convenience of citizens. Discussions also covered the daily operations of the Islamabad Capital Police, as well as strategies for public communication and publicity.

ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan underscored the vital role of journalism in societal advancement and reiterated the police’s commitment to maintaining regular interactions with the media to ensure the timely release of accurate and factual news. He highlighted the importance of truthfulness in news related to police activities to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Dr. Khan announced the establishment of a Public Relations Branch within the Islamabad Capital Police, dedicated to upholding the principles of timely and factual news dissemination and fostering strong coordination with journalists. He called on journalists to consider the police’s perspective in their reporting, aiming to shield the community from unfounded and misleading information.

Emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between the police force and journalists, Dr. Khan acknowledged the crucial support provided by the media in police operations against criminal activities. He affirmed the indispensable role of media cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of the Federal Capital.
