Islamabad Cabinet Committee Reviews State-Owned Enterprises Policy


Islamabad, The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, today led a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs). The meeting, attended by various ministers and high-level officials, focused on reviewing the implementation of the State-Owned Enterprises Policy 2023 and evaluating the financial and operational performance of these entities.



According to Press Information Department, the committee deliberated on proposals for categorizing state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to determine which should retain commercial functions and which should transition to private sector management. This restructuring aims to ensure that SOEs remaining under government control are competitive, accountable, and responsive. The Central Monitoring Unit of the Finance Division presented ongoing work on compiling the Federal SOE Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2023, with an emphasis on addressing governance and financial management gaps urgently.



The committee set deadlines for resolving issues such as unfilled board vacancies and unaudited accounts, stressing the national priority to halt fiscal losses. The meeting underscored the urgency of expediting the SOE restructuring and privatization agenda to enhance efficiency and safeguard public resources.
