Islamabad Bolsters Security for 9th Muharram Processions

Islamabad: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, conducted an inspection of the main procession for the 9th Muharram-ul-Haram, emphasizing the deployment of extensive security measures to ensure public safety and maintain order during this critical observance.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, over 3,400 police officers, including senior officials and additional law enforcement personnel, have been strategically positioned along the procession routes. IGP Rizvi directed the implementation of foolproof security protocols, highlighting the collaboration between the Islamabad Police, district administration, Pakistan Rangers, and military personnel to secure the event. Measures included a comprehensive search operation within a five-kilometer radius of the procession, the deployment of bomb disposal squads, and continuous monitoring via drone cameras and Safe City surveillance systems.

Participants were screened through designated routes with metal detectors, and extensive parking restrictions were enforced to maintain a secure perimeter. IGP Rizvi reaffirmed the commitment of the police force to uphold peace during the observance and praised the cooperation of procession organizers and scout volunteers in ensuring a well-coordinated security effort.
