Islamabad and Kabul Rivers Anticipated to Reach Medium to High Flood Levels

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) have projected an increase in water flows in the major rivers, including the Chenab and Kabul, and their tributaries, expected to reach medium to high flood levels from July 4th to July 7th. NDMA is coordinating with various federal and provincial bodies to prepare and respond effectively to the anticipated flooding, urging the public to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines.

According to Press Information Department, the increased water levels are anticipated at Marala and downstream locations on the River Chenab, and at Nowshera on the River Kabul, along with its tributaries. The NDMA has emphasized the importance of public vigilance and adherence to local authority directives. The agency also recommends using the ‘Pak NDMA Disaster Alert’ mobile app for timely updates and alerts. Additional advice includes developing family evacuation plans, preparing emergency kits, and avoiding unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall and probable flooding.
