ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, on Thursday called upon India to create conditions conducive to improving bilateral ties between the two nations. According to Kashmir Media Service, Dar highlighted the need for mutual cooperation, stating that “it takes two to tango,” while addressing a press conference in Islamabad. He emphasized the importance of establishing a conducive environment to enhance diplomatic and trade relations.
During the press conference, Dar discussed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to bolster its diplomatic standing and economic stability through various bilateral and multilateral engagements. These efforts include Pakistan’s recent commencement of its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025-2026. Additionally, he detailed the country’s participation in international forums such as the Nuclear Energy Summit, the World Economic Forum in Saudi Arabia, and the OIC summit in Gambia.
Dar also spoke about Pakistan’s diplomatic interactions with significant international figures, including the Saudi foreign minister and the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. In these interactions, Pakistan consistently addressed the Kashmir dispute and expressed concerns over Israel’s actions in Palestine. The OIC summit in Gambia marked a significant achievement for Pakistan, as it led to the appointment of an OIC envoy on Islamophobia.
Moreover, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s strong advocacy for the implementation of United Nations resolutions on Palestine and the International Court of Justice’s ruling on related issues. He condemned Israel’s actions and highlighted Pakistan’s humanitarian efforts, including hosting Palestinian medical students and dispatching relief aid to Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon.
