Ishaq Dar Advocates for Enhanced Economic Cooperation Among ECO Nations


Mashhad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has called for increased economic collaboration among the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), emphasizing the importance of connectivity, visa liberalization, and streamlined border procedures to harness the economic potential of the region.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dar made these remarks during the ECO Council of Ministers meeting held in the Iranian city of Mashhad. He highlighted that this approach would foster mutual dependencies essential for sustainable growth and help member states develop strategies for the efficient use of energy resources.



Dar stressed that improved economic cooperation among ECO nations could contribute to peace and stability in the region. He shared that Pakistan is enhancing its rail and road infrastructure to ensure the smooth flow of goods with neighboring countries and beyond.



Furthermore, he pointed out the role of ECO’s specialized agencies and regional institutions in advancing the organization’s goals through increased engagement and people-to-people interactions.



In his address, Dar condemned the Israeli actions in Gaza and its aggression in Lebanon and Syria, expressing concerns over the escalating conflict in the Middle East. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance on upholding peace and security in the region, safeguarding the sovereignty of Lebanon and Syria, and addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
