Lahore, Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi visited the mausoleum of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal today, where he paid his respects and emphasized the strengthening of Pakistan-Iran relations, influenced significantly by Iqbal’s poetic legacy.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his visit to Lahore, President Raisi laid a floral wreath at Iqbal’s tomb and participated in a prayer session dedicated to the poet. The President highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan, referencing Iqbal’s work as a pivotal cultural bridge that continues to inspire bilateral relations.
President Raisi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s stance on Gaza and discussed the potential for further strengthening the brotherly relations between the two nations. Additionally, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the Khateeb of Lahore’s historical Badshahi Mosque, led special prayers for the improvement of Pak-Iran relations and for peace in Gaza.
The President also engaged in a session detailing the restoration projects in Lahore’s historical Old Walled City, expressing his admiration for the efforts to preserve its rich heritage. His visit underscores the ongoing cultural and diplomatic exchanges aimed at bolstering the historical ties between Iran and Pakistan through shared heritage and mutual respect.
