Peshawar, The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Banafisha Khaw, met with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Barrister Firoz Jamal Shah Kakakhel, to discuss enhancing cultural and economic relations.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting in Peshawar emphasized the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties between Iran and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The talks centered on boosting people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges, particularly exploring the tourism potential between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and various Iranian cities. The discussion also focused on strengthening economic ties to increase trade and joint activities to showcase culture, heritage, food, and traditions.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to facilitating travel between Iranian cities and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through road, sea, and air routes, including the possibility of direct flights from Islamabad or Peshawar to Iranian cities. This initiative aims to provide convenient access for tourists and business persons from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Iran.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister emphasized the unique opportunities for religious and eco-tourism in both regions, stressing the importance of celebrating joint events and festivals to promote cultural exchange.
The Consul General expressed gratitude for the warm reception and discussed strategies to attract Iranian tourists to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also extended an invitation to the Information Minister to participate in an exhibition in Iran, which was accepted.
Additionally, the meeting touched upon the issue of Palestine, with the Consul General highlighting Pakistan’s significant role in supporting the Palestinian cause. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister reiterated the commitment to advocating for Palestine on various platforms and continuing support until a logical resolution is reached.
The meeting concluded with a joint resolve to enhance diplomatic, cultural, and economic relations between Iran and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking a step forward in bilateral cooperation.
