Iqra Fund Drives Educational Empowerment in Northern Pakistan Under Leadership of Genevieve Walsh

Washington DC, Genevieve Walsh, CEO and Co-Founder of Iqra Fund, has dedicated efforts to advancing education in Northern Pakistan, particularly for girls, to foster community development and economic growth. During a meeting with Ambassador Masood Khan at the Embassy of Pakistan, Walsh outlined the achievements and future goals of the Iqra Fund, emphasizing its role in transforming educational opportunities in remote areas.

According to Press Information Department, since its inception in 2011, Iqra Fund has successfully established 20 village schools and supported 4,098 students, including 70 college scholarships specifically for women. Walsh’s initiative began after a transformative visit to Pakistan in 2007, inspired by a young girl named Iqra who started a tent school post-earthquake. This encounter led to the formation of the Iqra Fund, focusing on self-sustaining educational systems. Ambassador Khan lauded Walsh’s work as a symbol of the strong friendship between Pakistan and the United States, offering continued support for the Fund’s mission.
