Islamabad, A recent survey conducted by IPSOS, a global market research and consulting firm, has found that a significant majority of Pakistanis consider the 2024 elections to have been transparent and free from rigging. This report comes amid widespread scrutiny of electoral processes worldwide, highlighting the importance of public confidence in democratic institutions.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the survey, which involved over three thousand participants from all four provinces, was carried out between February 11 and 19. Respondents were asked to share their opinions on the transparency and fairness of the elections.
The findings revealed that 58 percent of those surveyed across Pakistan believed the 2024 elections were conducted transparently and fairly. This sentiment was particularly strong in Punjab, Sindh, and Baluchistan, with a majority of respondents from these regions affirming their trust in the electoral process.
In detail, 63 percent of participants in Punjab, 62 percent in Sindh, 55 percent in Balochistan, 61 percent in Islamabad, and 33 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed confidence that the election was transparent. The variation in perception across regions underscores the diverse political landscapes within the country, yet indicates an overall positive outlook on the conduct of the elections.
This survey’s results are significant, as they reflect a general consensus among the Pakistani populace regarding the integrity of the electoral process. Such perceptions are crucial for the legitimacy of elected officials and the stability of democratic governance in Pakistan.
