Sialkot, March 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 2nd meeting of the Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Coordination Committee (IPRECC) Sialkot was held here in the Dry Port Trust, Sambrial, and Sialkot. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Executive Director, and IPO-Pakistan and attended by the representatives of Pakistan Customs, Police, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Sialkot Food department, President Bar Association Sialkot and Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Nasir Mahmood Zahid, Director IPO gave a detailed presentation on legal frame for IPR enforcement and institutional developments undertaken by IPO- Pakistan. The Committee was apprised about the achievements of IPO for streamlining the IPR enforcement procedures.

Mr. Muhammad Naseer, emphasized the important role of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in the enforcement of IPRs. He highlighted that Pakistan’s global IP ranking is continuously improving since last 5 years due to data sharing between IPO and LEAs. The LEAs shared their experience in the implementation of IP laws and explained about the problems faced by them while investigating the infringement and counterfeiting cases.
