Karachi: In a significant move to bolster intellectual property (IP) management and legislation, IPO-Pakistan’s Chairperson, Ambassador (r) Farukh Amil, engaged in strategic discussions with key members of the Pakistan Intellectual Property Rights Association (PIPRA).
According to Press Information Department, the meeting, attended by prominent figures from both organizations, focused on refining Pakistan’s IP framework to better align with international standards and address local challenges. The PIPRA delegation, led by Syed Aquil Ali Shah, emphasized the need for Pakistan’s accession to international instruments, amendments to current IP laws, and adjustments in fee structures to make IP processes more efficient and globally competitive.
Ambassador Amil expressed his appreciation for the private sector’s contributions to IP enhancements in Pakistan and committed to supporting initiatives proposed by the legal community aimed at strengthening the IP system and improving service delivery. Senior IPO officials, including the Registrars of Trademarks and Copyright and the Controller of Patents, also participated, highlighting recent advancements and ongoing efforts at IPO Pakistan.
The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering a robust IP environment that supports innovation and secures intellectual assets in Pakistan.
