IPO-Pakistan and PITB Sign MoU for Digitalization and Automation to Enhance Accessibility

Karachi, In a significant move towards digital advancement, the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan), under the Ministry of Commerce, and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitalize and automate IPO-Pakistan’s operations. This collaboration aims to streamline processes and improve access for the public and business community.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the MoU was signed by Director General Shazia Adnan of IPO and Director General Saima Shaikh of the Punjab Information Technology Board. The agreement is anticipated to facilitate easier online payments and other documentation processes, which are expected to become more efficient within the next two months. This development is geared towards promoting the Ease of Doing Business in IPO.

DG Shazia Adnan of IPO emphasized that the partnership with PITB will make IPO’s services more user-friendly and accessible. The digitalization and automation of processes are seen as crucial steps in enhancing the operational efficiency of IPO-Pakistan.

Additionally, Chairman IPO, Farukh Amil, highlighted the specific advantages this digitalization initiative would offer to the youth, particularly those engaged with IT and social media. He mentioned that the new system would enable them to file online complaints and access various other IPO services with ease. This approach aligns with IPO’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness among young people in universities and educational institutions, aiming to foster a greater interest in commerce and business education.

The Director General of the Punjab Information Technology Board, Saima Shaikh, also commented on PITB’s role in providing institutional support for this transformation, which is expected to simplify and enhance the effectiveness of IPO’s processes.

This MoU represents a strategic collaboration between IPO-Pakistan and PITB, marking a step forward in the digital transformation of Pakistan’s intellectual property services, and reflects the country’s broader commitment to leveraging technology for public service improvement.
